2025 Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid

Everyone knows the Honda Civic: it’s been around for decades as a no-nonsense car providing reliable and affordable transportation. If you haven’t owned one yourself or bought one for a teenaged driver, you’ve almost certainly ridden in one at least once or twice. But as steady as this beloved sedan is, there are big changes for model year 2025. Foremost, a gas-electric powertrain is back, making the Civic Sedan Hybrid a fuel-economy superstar. Honda last offered a gas-electric Civic in 2015, but it’s back stronger than ever as part of the automaker’s ongoing sustainability efforts. It also comes more extensively equipped than the gas-only version of the Civic Sedan (read on for details).

Trims and Mechanical Specs

The two trim packages for the 2025 Civic Sedan Hybrid are called Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring. They employ a dual-motor gas-electric powerplant that puts out 200 hp, sealing it as the most powerful Civic ever (the high-performance Type R and Civic Si are distinct variants). A continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drivetrain are also standard.

The ’25 Civic Sedan Hybrid’s fuel efficiency stands out, with the EPA estimating it to return 50 mpg around town and 47 mpg on the highway. The model’s regenerative braking system harvests kinetic energy from the stopping process and converts it to electric power that’s stored in the battery to supply incremental amounts of charge.

Standard Amenities

The entry trim, the Sport Hybrid, is equipped well with proximity keyless entry, automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights, push-button start, a moonroof, remote start, heated front seats, automatic climate control (two zones), a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, a 7-inch driver information display, a drive mode selector (settings: Econ, Normal, and Sport), a pair of USB-C data ports in the front console, a rear-seat center armrest with cup holders, heated power exterior mirrors with black caps, variable intermittent windshield wipers, sport pedals, and a chrome-tipped exhaust.

The Sport Touring gets upgrades such as leather upholstery, power front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, turn indicators built into the exterior mirrors, and an additional drive mode called Individual (for customized performance). It also receives some safety and multimedia enhancements, as explained in the subsequent sections.

Advanced Driver-Assist Features

Honda Sensing is a proprietary collection of advanced safety technologies that adds to driver confidence and helps avoid collision. In both trims of the 2025 Civic Sedan Hybrid, it consists of adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition. As the more expensive trim, the Sport Touring also gets low-speed braking control, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.

Multimedia and Connectivity

The Sport Hybrid has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and a 180-watt eight-speaker audio system. The Sport Touring moves up to a Google built-in system with a 9-inch touchscreen plus Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store, navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, and a premium Bose audio system with 12 speakers.
