The Honda HR-V is a stylish and versatile subcompact crossover that blends everyday utility with a dose of refinement. Built on the same advanced platform as the CR-V, the more compact HR-V counts agile handling among its desirable attributes, along with Honda’s legendary dependability at an affordable price point.
For model year 2026, the HR-V has returned with several exciting updates. Standard across all trims is a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system complete with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity. What’s more, each trim now has a standard wireless phone charger and rear privacy glass. Eye-catching new wheel designs add to the HR-V's contemporary appearance, while two fresh exterior paint colors – Boost Blue Pearl and Solar Reflection Metallic – give buyers some new aesthetic choices.
The base LX is well equipped, but the higher trims bring even more flair. The Sport now gets a gloss-black tailgate badge, underscoring its athletic character, while the premium EX-L gains silver steering wheel spokes, illuminated climate-control knobs, and front footwell lighting for a more sophisticated cabin atmosphere.
Trims, Powertrain, and Performance
The five-passenger 2026 HR-V is available in three trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L. Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 158 hp paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard across all trims, while all-wheel drive (AWD) is available as an option. Fuel economy is one of the ‘26 HR-V’s most appealing factors. According to the official EPA estimates, the FWD version returns 26 mpg around town and 32 mpg on the highway, which changes to 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway with AWD.
Notable Features
With the base LX, you’ll find an assortment of must-have amenities, including single-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, wireless phone charging, active noise cancellation, a 60/40-split second-row seatback, a 7-inch driver information display, a selector with three drive modes (Econ, Normal, Snow), three USB-C ports (one data and two charging), a 12V power outlet, remote keyless entry, automatic on/off LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and taillights, power side mirrors, and rear privacy glass.
The Sport adds remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated front seats, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock, a sport-design grille, black exterior accents, and a chrome exhaust finisher. The EX-L lacks the black accents and more athletic edge seen on the Sport, but it makes up for it with other features, including leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a one-touch power moonroof.
Advanced Safety Aids
The ‘26 HR-V receives a host of standard driver-assistance features courtesy of the Honda Sensing safety suite. It bundles a collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams. The Sport and EX-L gain a blind-spot information system and rear cross-traffic monitor, while the EX-L is further sweetened with low-speed braking control and front and rear parking sensors.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Honda equips the ‘26 HR-V with a newly standard 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, HondaLink remote vehicle services, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. The audio setup varies by trim level: the LX comes with a four-speaker sound system, the Sport upgrades to six speakers, and the range-topping EX-L delivers a richer listening experience with eight speakers.
