2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid
Combined Gas/Electric Range Reading:
Serving Capitol Heights, MD, Washington, D.C., and Arlington, VA
Few vehicles can offer spaciousness, performance and game-changing fuel economy the way the 2018 Clarity Plug-in Hybrid EV can. Honda is pushing toward the future while making sure to offer all of the automotive features that make a car great today. Let’s check it out.
When it comes to effectiveness, the Clarity PHEV has all angles covered. With a gas tank to extend range, it has a 42-mpg combined EPA rating. However, in an average week, you may never need any gas. The plug-in range is 89 miles, and drivers have ways to recharge a low battery while in motion. They can push a button which directs the battery system to harness engine power. It can recover up to 58 percent of its charge. When you do plug in, a 240-volt connector gets the Clarity PHEV ready to go in 2.5 hours. A 120-volt connection will do it overnight in 12 hours, making it easy for homeowners who don’t want to invest in special equipment. Best of all, horsepower is rated at 212, more than most mid-sized four-cylinder sedans.
Quality is emphasized throughout as you will notice from its tight-fitting panels and handsome upholstery. Touring models dress in soft suede-like trim, leather upholstery, and wood-look accents. The eight-way power chair includes memory settings. To make you comfortable regardless of the weather, there's an automatic HVAC system, heated front seats, and an available remote starter with climate settings. The spacious cabin is complemented by a generous 15.5-cu.ft. trunk that doesn’t lose space to a battery. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay help you make more out of the car’s streaming audio system. A touchscreen and USB port are on board every Clarity. Thanks to a quiet engine and sound-deadening materials in the cabin, the interior is quiet during travel. An effective suspension adds a smooth ride.
Honda loads up the Clarity PHEV with its special Sensing equipment. This includes automatic emergency braking which reacts to the forward collision warning with or without the use of cruise control. A lane departure warning may trigger a lane keeping assist. In a similar manner, the road departure system may trigger a steering assist or light braking to help the driver quickly manage the situation. LaneWatch uses a camera to show you what’s in your blind spot when the car is moving. The rearview camera helps with parking.
