It should come as no surprise that the Civic has been on the road for more than 35 years. The base engine, and the only one available on the LX and Sport trims, is a 2.0L four-cylinder power source. It puts out 158 horsepower, and while that might not sound like much, it gets the vehicle up to freeway speed with ease. Transmission is your choice of six-speed manual or CVT. The EX. EX-L, and Touring trims come with a more powerful, turbocharged 1.5L engine that spits out a total of 174 horsepower. If rapid acceleration is important to you, this is the engine you'll want. The turbocharged engine also rewards you with exceptional fuel economy, up to 36 mpg on the highway. Steering on the Civic is accurate, and braking power is top-notch.

Interior

It's no luxury car, but the materials quality on the 2019 Honda Civic is better than average. The cabin is quite large for a compact model, and the primary controls are well-placed and easy to reach. Rear legroom is a big selling point. Standard features you'll enjoy on the base LX trim include a height-adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control, a 5-inch display screen, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker sound system. The Sport version comes with split folding rear seatbacks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a larger screen display. The uplevel trims add on a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. These trims also feature full leather upholstery and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The top-level Touring trim comes with navigation and a 10-speaker audio system.

Safety

In addition to the full set of airbags, traction control, and antilock brakes, the 2019 Honda Civic now comes with the Honda Sensing suite as standard across the trim lineup. This means you won't pay additional costs for adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, or frontal collision warning with emergency braking. You'll have to look at more expensive models to find a deal as good as this.
