Drivers who are ready to take home a new subcompact car may understandably be intrigued by what the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla offer. These are two of the most popular vehicles in the class, and they have been long-standing traditions in the auto industry for many decades. You may be inclined to simply pick out the most affordable vehicle in this match-up. However, a closer look may reveal that the more expensive model offers better overall value.

Interior Features

The interior features in Civic and Corolla vary dramatically based on the trim that you decide to take home. Some of the many features loaded into the Civic include Honda Sensing safety technology, a multi-view rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a large color display screen, a one-touch power moonroof, Bluetooth hands-free technology and more. The Corolla gives you Toyota Sensing safety features, split-folding seats, a color display screen for the infotainment system, an optional auto climate control system and a few additional features.

Exterior Style

Because the Civic is available in three unique body styles, it may be more well-suited for many drivers who have different style preferences. Compared to the Corolla, the Civic has a sportier look whereas the Corolla has a sedan-like appearance. Both of these cars have a forward-sloping hood that fades into the grille. The Civic’s grille is smaller and angles upward at the sides into slanted headlights. The Corolla’s grille is a more robust feature on the front end, and it angles outward toward its bottom. The side contouring on the Civic is sharply defined and creates a muscular look. The Corolla’s side panels have moderate character lines.

Overall Value

Because the Civic has more advanced trim levels available than the Corolla, it has a slightly higher price point when you compare fully-loaded versions of these two vehicles. However, you can see that the Civic has a more desirable exterior style and comes with many additional features that are not available in the Corolla. If you are shopping for the best overall value, the Civic deserves a closer look.
